Shoulder Girdle Pain

Shoulder problems are one of the most common reasons people visit KH Chiropractic here in Aldgate, London. Treatment options for conditions such as frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries can be assessed at the clinic and appropriate treatment discussed.

First your chiropractor will take a thorough history and examination to understand the mechanism of your complaint, and to establish a diagnosis. Should your chiropractor feel the examination is not sufficient we may refer you for further imaging such as an x-ray ultrasound or MRI.

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, explaining why it is frequently injured and if often referred to as the most unstable joint. The top of the arm, which is ball shaped articulates with a small concave surface / socket. The joint isn’t very deep and therefore is mainly supported by muscles, ligaments and tendons. If an injury occurs at this joint it most commonly affects these supporting tissues which can lead to shoulder pain.

It is likely your chiropractor will also assess the neck to check the exact cause of the injury. Nerves, muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments can refer pain to distant areas, and for this reason it is important a full assessment is carried out to establish the cause.
